Strengthening Transportation
Current Los Gatos traffic levels are unacceptable. With current traffic congestion challenges, we must do more to ensure that our emergency vehicles are able to navigate our roads. These issues will continue to compound over time, the longer we wait to act. There is a cost of inaction—time can work against Los Gatos if we fail to pursue policies without a long-term outlook. As we address our challenges in state-mandated housing growth, Los Gatos needs to strengthen its transportation systems to serve our residents.
As a Council Member, I will prioritize building a Town where our transit infrastructure efficiently connects all of our residents with our community spaces.
Free Transit
Older adults and young kids alike benefit greatly from public transportation.
Public transit takes cars off the streets, reducing our emissions and traffic congestion. Public transit is particularly effective at serving major destinations like our public schools. For those reasons, I support free transit for students, school staff, seniors, and Los Gatos residents with disabilities.
In my work with the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) as a Complete Streets and Transportation Commissioner, I helped to negotiate a 6-month pilot program that will provide all Los Gatos High School students and staff with $480,000 worth of free VTA transit passes for only $20,000. If I am elected, this pilot program would be only the start. I will work to make this free transit program permanent and to extend it to all students, seniors, low income, and disabled residents across Los Gatos.
Los Gatos Light Rail
VTA’s Vasona Light Rail extension would provide regional connectivity for Los Gatos residents. As a member of the Complete Streets Transportation Commission, I recommended that Council endorse and support this project. This has yet to be approved by Council.
As a Council Member, I would use my considerable experience working with VTA to move this project forward.
Beach Traffic
In 2025, I conducted an in-depth review of previous beach traffic policies to find innovative and practical solutions. If elected, I would support the measures recommended in my review to quickly and effectively address one of our most infamous problems here in Los Gatos.
Beach traffic is ultimately a regional problem that demands both local action and coordination with regional authorities. In my report, some proposed options include a pilot program to implement tolls on non-Los Gatans, implementing a permanent promenade along North Santa Cruz Avenue, increasing our supply of public bike racks, and initiating a bike-share system in our Town.
